I have been reading alot about diet and the problems with raw meats and crap dry food.
I have been feeding mainly dry food latley as i found that they went off the ground chicken i was feeding. I would like to keep feeding dry as it is easier to keep in a constant supply throughout the day and they seem to enjoy it more.
My problem is what is a good "human grade" dry food available in Australia? I have several supply stores within reach but just knowing what to get is the challenge.
In the search for a food i found a brand called Coprice, i havce fed their horse products to my GG's and am quite happy with it, here are the ingredient listing, does not sound "top grade" to me but i could be wrong. Comments please?
Rice and rice milling products, wheat and wheat milling products, meat by-products derived from beef and mutton, fish by-products, vegetable proteins, salt, vitamins, minerals and trace elements to adequately cover NAS-NRC* recommendations.
The silence is defening!!!
IF no-one knows of particular brands i should be looking for in my neck of the wood then can you give ma idea of what the ingredient listings should sound like?? Please....Im trying to do what i can for my guyes....a little help.....Please <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
I don't know if you can get these in Australia, but another good brand is Canidae, Innova and Flint River Ranch. Canidae and Flint River Ranch are online and do ship, but my guess that would be expensive.
As far as ingredients, I would avoid brands that have a lot of corn products in it. First ingredient listed on the bag should be meat based.
I'm sure someone else can list more products to avoid.

I SECOND THAT!
So far I have been 100% satisfied with Canidae and switching them over from other kibble was the best thing I could have ever done for my dogs. In my opinion it is one of the best if not the best kibble you can feed your dogs! Not all that expensive either. I pay 31.95 for 40 pounds, and because it is filled with great needed stuff, your dogs will eat less of it then the lower quality foods that cost just the same!!!!
Okay, this food is not available in Austrailia but am curious about what everyone thinks about the frozen Bil-Jac. My puppy was raised on both raw and frozen Bil-Jac...that is one food I have no seen mentioned here. Can someone tell me something about it and why (or why not) it would be a good idea to feed it. When he camet to me he looked great as did all of the other dogs in her kennel. It is just not feasible for me to feed all raw to my dogs and am looking for the next best option. I thank you in advance for any help and info.
i feed canidea but if not available in austrailia i would go to flint river ranch its all holistic never warehoused and there website says free shipping but that may be oinly in the usa i dont know!!!! oh hi mellissa
Unfortunatly the three that lanegirl reccomended are not in Aust, but thanks anyway. THis is looking to be a bit of a challenge.
Can the Aussie members of the board possibly tell us what they feed? It would be a help.
