My wife was out in the backyard playing with our beautiful little 9 month old Mali named Daisy.
Daisy is Baden bred (I know they have had their controversy here, our experience has been first rate ALL the way) and an absolutely fabulous dog in every possible respect. Clearly the problem is the handlers; the doorbell rang and Daisy, who is in full heat, took advantage of the three minutes my wife gave her alone in the backyard to scale the fence and "get-dirty" with the neigbors intact 100lb male black lab. My wife poked her head over the fence to see him dismount and light a cigarette.
Daisy is 9 months old, 45 pounds and we had not planned to even consider spaying her until she was at least two; we like nature and the way god makes things.
I'm disgusted we have become "those" people who let their dog get pregnant accidentally; but nothing we can do now except address it properly in the best humour possible but it's tough.
*We have no desire whatsoever to have a litter of "Belgian Labradors".
*She is only 9 months old will it hurt her?
*What's to say she's even pregnant from one go?
*We really don't want to spay her, but this would eliminate any litter that may develop from today's romp.
The vet says spay her or deal with the litter and the risk.
When she's up on the pole, she climbs down the ladder using the rungs or jumps, depending on the direction she's given. If I don't give her specific direction, she prefers to climb halfway down the ladder and then jump.

How long ago did this happen? I would get a couple more opinions. If it happened the day you posted then there are things they can do.
Sounds like maybe your vet is a pro-alter????

I also did read some information on the internet about a dog equivalent to the morning after pill however my vet and another vet I called will not even discuss it with me for some reason. My own vet pleads ignorance and the other vet I spoke with tells me they will only help us by spaying her. I understand, from their view we are just irresponsible dog owners that need their help in avoiding future problems.
Anyone know anything about a "morning after pill" for dogs, or anything about Estrogen shots?
Carol it is now 10:47am on Wednesday May 9th. She did the deed with the Black Lab at approx 1:00pm Tuesday, so as I write this it has been less than 24 hours.

pro-alter---my word--- for vets who like to spay and neuter rather than give alternatives to something like this.
The vet here in my town is like that. But my vet is very helpful, if he knows you are a responsible owner, as far as keeping a pet intact and giving suggestions if accidents happen and he is very knowledgeable about the pros and cons of each.
OH Yeah...JANICE, thanks for posting that article, I was looking for links like that but was sidetracked by my sister calling.....
