Anyone here feed wild game? Are there any extra pitfalls I should know about? I am not so much worried about moose and deer as I am the rather odd stuff like bear, beaver, etc...

Beaver can carry Giarida, and bear can carry Trichinosis I've heard. I don't know if or how either will affect dogs.
Snakes are probably fine.
Thanks OED. I was aware of the trichinosis in bear meat, but if you freeze it for an extended period of time I believe it will die off much the same way as it will with pork.
I can get a ton of bear as no one really kills them for the meat. Most people want them for a nice rug.
I talked to my local game inspection station and butcher and they have to PAY to have the bones hauled off... so if you are feeding raw and there is a lot of hunting in your area I suggest asking around. If I don't haul them off they are going to be made into soap and cosmetics(and people wonder why I don't wear makeup)...

You said that you weren't worried about deer and moose. Is there anything at all to worry about with deer? One of my sons-in-law is a deer hunting fanatic and our freezer is usually full through the winter.
I wouldn't feed any wild game raw except for beaver which has been hard frozen. I definately wouldn't feed deer or moose raw - way to many parasites- check out this http://www.nwtwildlife.rwed.gov.nt.ca/Publications/diseasepamphletweb/hydatiddisease.htm
scroll down to "samples to collect" - eek
I've fed bear but always cooked it (makes lovely sausage, too)
If you feed game you have to maintain a good
worming program with a broad spectrum wormer that
gets all types of tape along with other worms.
