My female is now 9 months old and does the lazy puppy sit. I am training for Schutzhund work and getting worried about this. Will she grow out of this puppy sit? If not how do you correct it? She sits nicley but then rolls back some if you don't immediatlely move her again.
I am reluctant to say this but my boy was the same and found he had a bad hip. Hope this is not your case. There are other easons for this but now every time I see a pic of any puppy doing so I get concerned. Sorry if I spoiled your day.
Not to worry. Both parents are OFA's so I would be extremly surprised if bad hips are it. Everytime she goes to the vet he usually looks her over and thinks everything is fine. I will be getting her pre-lim hips done once she is 1 year old. I appreciate your response and giving me the heads up
I'd get your pups hips prelimed now. She's old enough at 9 months old and then you can rule out a hip problem.
while OFA ratings are useful in breeding, it's no guarantee that there won't be hip problems in the offspring.
If the hips come back ok, then I would suggest you start over and retrain the sit from scratch and only reward straight and perfect sits. don't allow her to get into the sloppy position in the first place.
