I Just got done watching the video and I had a few questions??
1) when wearing multiple collars, the prong and E-collar should be in the same spot (if wearing seperately), so where to put each one when wearing multile collars???
2) When Ed is teaching the dog to "OUT" in the video, the dog obviously drops the tug, but as soon as he moves the tug again the dog snatches it up?? I was thinking that you should move the tug around and let the dog just "stew" over not being able to bite it?? Is this a working dog thing that you let the dog nail the tug right after you move it and then give a bite command?? Or was the emphasis just on the out and whatever the dog does after the out is ok??
Great video, I only watched it once thoug, gonna watch it a few more times before use it though?? bought another video specific to "water Dogs" called TOP DOG, gonna watch that also before I use the E-collar
Ok, any resposes to my questions would be a great help..
1: i was wondering this too, i tryed putting them both up high on the neck like they should be but the e-collar would almost always get in the way of the prong
2: I think thats just his training meathed if you want to train your dog different thats good but my dog knows if the toy moves its his. But for me that goes hand in hand if they decoy makes any sudden or aggressive movements so it kind of goes hand in hand.
1. I would (and do) put the prong at the top and the e-collar right under. It's more important to keep the prong as high on the neck vs the e-collar.
2. Ed gives the dog a "packen" or bite command. He uses that to demonstrate to teach the dog to "aus" or release. As Ed states, that is a very dominant dog. I'm sure it's from working lines.
Ya, I think it's a difference of mili-seconds, but you could be right. I used the same method to teach my dog to bite on command (tugs, toys & sticks so far). If she is in a down, and I'm twitching the tug with the leash, 9/10 times she won't bite until I say "bite". It's also how she learned the "aus".
I keep my prong high and sacrifice the placement of the e-collar for this, as well. The e-collar can still give an effective corection if it slips a little low, the prong not so much.

Well, we are posting in the electric collar training section....
I too would assume that a post in the Leerburg e-collar forum about "the video" would be a reference to the Leerburg e-collar video, but that really is kind of an assumption on my part.
