I'm trying to switch a dog I'm fostering to the RAW diet from kibble. Our other dogs have been on the RAW diet from day one, so I did not have to do switching. This female eats kibble fine, but will not eat chicken wings, or ground hamburger, ground chicken, and she's worse than a child with veggies, even with hamburger mixed in for flavor. She ate wings at first, but would throw them up, and now won't eat anything related to the raw diet. I tried a slow switch, mix raw with kibble, and she would eat the kibble and leave the RAW. I tried mixing kibble with hamburger and she has not eaten for two days. I'm thinking of going to switchh cold turkey and she'll eat when shes get hungry. Is this true or does someone have a better suggestion.
She will eat when she is hungry. Do you feed the dogs seperate? Does she have food aggression? Just make sure she has plenty of water. Try giving her a little ground meat as a treat, hand feed her. My experience with dogs has been they will eat anything from your hand. She is probably just scared, once she see's what the other dogs are eating she will figure it out. Good luck!
since you are already trying to use ground, why not cook it very lightly and then offer it to her.. Rare is better than fully cooked in my opinion, and fully cooked is still light years beyond kibble.
