Hi, yes, there is a trainer in IL, who does work with Boxers and he's really involved with Ring. He breeds Mals, but works Boxers as well. His name is Adrian Moreno.

I've met Adrian and watched him work with and assess dogs (although not a lot). Very good guy, and highly motivated decoy. His dogs were very motivated, personable, and wickedly enthusiastic on a sleeve.

Dennis, as a Boxer owner and supporter, I will tell you "yes, it is that hard", but well worth it in my opinion. I think the Boxer has had a huge downfall as a working breed due to show breeders, but there are some really nice Boxers out there still. I didn't have much luck on this forum in finding a Boxer, but I will go through my notes and PM you all the info I found.

Hello,
There are a few German boxers working to start participating in Ring sports. There is also a small group of people with German boxers that are working in preparing their dogs for Schutzhund, AKC, and ring sports. There are a few that are at this time participating in the sport, a boxer went this year to the DVG Nationals in Canada, just to name the latest of the participants. There are other boxers also attaining their SchH titles with pretty decent scores, at this time.
If you care to take a look visit the USABox webpage, we are always looking for more boxer people to come and start an eye opening experience for the rest of the USA, that boxers can work.

I only have experience with basic obedience with my boxer...although my trainer who has worked with police dogs and search and rescue said my rescue boxer likely could have done protection work if he had been started young, fabulous dog, such a waste. He certainly challanged me in the beginning considering my previous dog was a spaniel!
Which is why I'm here gleening as much information as I can, I adore the boxer and would really like to get a German boxer in a few years once I really can wrap my head around Schutzhund. Guess I need to read up on Ring sports too.

A working boxer is hard to come by in this country but in many other countries they are abundant. Adrian just acquired a new boxer puppy, I'm not sure if he is going to do ring or sch or what though. I have trained 3 boxers in personal protection and imported one bitch that was a sch3 ipo3. They can definitely do the work the buyer just has to invest the time in getting a dog from proven working bloodlines. Many times this means going overseas but we are seeing more and more solid working dogs here in the US. I recommend following Millie's link and checking out some of the kennels listed on the USABox site. There are a lot of dedicated people in the club and while litters are sparse there are some good dogs being bred.

Can anyone tell me how to get in contact with one of the working line breeders? I am looking to find a police dog prospect. I would like to find a boxer, but I may have to go with another breed if I can't find one.
