I have been researching the BARF diet for a few weeks now and ran across a frozen raw food in my local feed store. The ingredients seemed to be in accordance with preparing it yourself. My feed store was asking $15- for a three pound bag. The food was in round medallion like pieces with a serving suggestion on the back.
My question is this: Is something like this a happy medium of sorts if used as a morning meal maybe with chicken backs or wings as an evening meal? I really want to go to BARK but time is at a real premium and this seems like the best of both worlds here unless I'm missing something. There were NO preservatives listed on the package so I did check at least on that. The cost is not preventative here as I am only feeding one dog.
Any input here is GREATLY appreciated. This board has not failed me so I'm looking forward to your replies.

I have used thier food when I travel and I liked it VERY much. (so did the dogs) In fact better than any other choice I have had.
As well there is another product on the market called Fargo (Farmore). My dogs didn't like thier food but lots of people use it and like it. It comes in 'rolls'.
I know there are other prepared diets as well, just can't name them off the top of my head.
If the food you mention is good quality then it would seem that that in the morning and chicken/backs for evening meal might be a good choice. Might want to give a few vitamins here and there as well. (really depends on the ingredients in prepared food).
I can't remember the name off the top of my head but the ingredients, if I remember correctly, are very much the same as what I found on that website ( I looked around there last week.) The cost is about the same when you compare # for #. I do plan to supplement.

there is also product called Companion Natural Pet Food. It's sold frozen in small and large tubs. Beef, chicken, turkey and duck varieties--we rotate. I understand they're also adding a fish variety.
The best commercial raw food I have seen is Summit Gold Label. They have pretty good prices, all organic ingredients, a super helpful staff and will ship anywhere. Their supplements are very good. I used this food when I was away for a week and the person who cared for my dogs said they went nuts every time he took out the containers. They are a small company that will really work with you. Their e-mail is summitpps@ aol.com.
