" American Canine Hybrid Club recognizes all hybrids produced from registered parents. The first to register a certain hybrid mix gets to choose the name. If a litter of a new hybrid is registered without a chosen name the ACHC will choose the name for the hybrid."
Ok is this for real, this is really upsetting and insulting to real breeders who take the time and effort to breed a sound litter. This is just incouraging people to get whatever breed and cross to whatever breed just to say I did it first and got my name on the board. What are the functions of these hybrids?? Do you think these people breeding these dogs actually have a purpose or plan to where they want to take this hybrid breed? http://www.achclub.com/modules.php?name=Breeders
That is a little strange to me. I have a jack Lab mix and i would not put her on there. Cause i am not trying to make a new breed. I think it is pointless because you can not get that mix again. Unless you find another 1/2 breed then most likely your in breeding. There is no way it could be done any way so I think it is pointless.

It's even more stupid because mixing two breeds of dogs does not create "hybrids". If you mix horses & donkeys you get hybrids because they are genetically different....duh.
This whole "Hybrid"/"Designer Breed" idea makes me sick. "Hybrids" are no different than any mixed breed dog found in the shelter. So basically people are paying out the ass for a dog that: (1) doesn't have a specific purpose, (2) shouldn't even be bred, (3) can't been shown in conformation, (4) can't compete in any AKC sanctioned or licensed events (agility, earth trails, obedience, herding, etc.) and (5) supposedly has a cute name. To me, these breeders are causing more and more dogs to be euthanized every day. People who are interested in owning a dog for companionship, are now spending literally thousands for a mutt instead of adopting. I've seen Goldendoodles avertised for $1,500. They also have the "Designer Dogs for Dummies" book out?!?!?! It's crazy! I give people dirty looks all the time for it. Hahah.
My rant on designer dogpeople is done, though it does seem that their iq goes down in direct ratio to the price they pay for the design of the day. And I've got no real root problem with a dog of any type/s per say. Dogs are dogs. I have my reasons that I keep only pure breed, and I have had to justify those reasons many times over to other dog friends. The rescue societies are absolutely spliting st the seams with unwanted abstract expressionist dogs.
All we need to do is get one in the hands of some bobble head of the moment. They'll beome an instant wanted master piece. Of course we'll still be stuck with the idiot owners. But maybe the pro trainers and vets will make out okay.

Yes, unfortunately, it is for real.
The function of the hybrids is to MAKE MONEY FOR THE BREEDERS.
Yes, the people breeding these dogs have a purpose and a plan, to make LOTS OF $$$$ from breeding mutts.
This is not a good topic for discussion on this board, just makes people mad. Makes ME mad, anyway.
Puppymills are great at designer dogs, and "purebreds", too.
grrrrr
