I'm trying to find ways to keep Ginger busy while in her crate. I've bought soup bones in the past (I think they are knuckle bones) and she loves gnawing on them... and it keeps her quiet and settled.
I've read that bones are hard on their teeth and, of course, don't want her to crack a tooth.
Are there bones a butcher could cut for us that would be ok? We have a meat company not to far away and after talking with them, they can get us any size or type of beef bone we might need.
Thanks.
There are three constants in life: Death, taxes and the love of a dog.
I did a long streak of knuckle bones, and I did notice a hint of wear on a tooth or two.
Back in the days of wanting to keep Señor Snout busy, I instead opted for bully sticks. It's just bull wang, which is all tendon. Much easier on the teeth.

This is the best price I have found on bully sticks if you don't want to buy large quantities at once. it works out to $1.60 each, not counting shipping. They want $5.99 each at petsmart, and $3.99 at my feed store! Ebay has a lot of things to offer.

Geesh, I forgot about those...I buy those by the case as well. Dogs love em.
Don't forget about Kongs filled with peanut butter or cream cheese and then frozen. That keeps them busy as well.
LB sells the Ice Pups and I made some of that along with some egg in it to make is thicker and taped the end of my kongs and froze those too, went over big.

I guess I'm not as nice as you guys. I give them water. They can keep themselves busy sleeping.
Funny! I sometimes give these in his crate, usually I use the kongs and bully sticks when he is out and not being as calm as I would like....
Another thing I do is get a wide peice of chicken jerky or homemade beef jerky and shove it firmly in the kong. Make sure it it tight and hard to get in. This keeps him busy for a while getting is soft enough to pull it out.

That's a good one! I'm going to try that this weekend...
