Hah! Gotcha! (grins as she sees Connie twitch)
Of course I don't want a fat dog! I do, however, want a dog that doesn't look like he just got off the plains of the Serengheti. I feed both RMB's along with a side diet of Taste of the Wild (which my dogs luuuuv). How does one go about putting a little more weight on a dog? He's 13 months and a tall, long bone. I'm getting sick of people saying I'm starving my dog to death! Besides that, he is quite lanky, I don't want too much but just enough to make him look a little healthier. Do all shepherds look so scrawny at this age? Do I need to feed him crap kibble for a while to put some weight on him, lol! J/K What do you guys suggest? He has a massive deep chest with a little tiny rear starting from where his stomach sinks in. No bones are showing or anything like that but for crying out loud!!!

How about feeding him more food?
Do you feed 2 or 3% of his body weight?
Maybe give him an egg a couple of times a week.

Ok......hmmmm....I just don't see the thinness, kiddo. He looks perfect in your sig picture, I don't see ribs but it's hard to tell with a picture from that angle. I'm getting told Lear looks overweight. They like to see ribs, I don't, just like to feel them. However Lear was lanky looking at Levi's age. In the last few months he has structurally filled out some more(as was promised me he would by some members of this board ). So I wouldn't worry about the lanky part.
On the other hand, if you want to give him an extra pound or 2, just give more RMB's.
PS: Another snazzy title - I'm sure you caught Connie's and many others' attention

Screw them. As Ed says: There are plenty of people who will give you advice about dog training. Most of these people don't have the experience to back it up.
I have to say, I was surprised to see how skinny some of the dogs are in different videos that I have seen of working dogs. When you aren't exposed to dog sports, the only dogs you see are pets, many times these dogs are overfed by folks who couldn't stand to see a rib poke out...even if the dog is sneezing!

I cant seem to find tripe. Well, I can find it but its already been messed with, steamed or cooked or something I cant remember which. How does one go about finding tripe that hasn't been screwed with? I think I tried feeding it once and my dogs were like, what the heck is this? All, long and chewy and getting stuck in their throat, lol! Does it have a high caloric content or something? I always hear peeps talking about it and have wondered what is so endearing about it.
In spite of how he looks on the sig pics he is thin, after all, the camera adds ten pounds, remember? I will try to put up a pick that puts it into better perspective.

I went to a local slaughterhouse and talked to the supervisor. He was surprised I wanted some tripe since they usually throw it away. He agreed to give me some for free. I recently gave him a Whiskey bottle in appreciation for his gesture.
Does it have a high caloric content or something?

I noticed at Slave*mart they have two types of tripe, one that is cooked (it is white) and another kind that I assume is raw. Am I on the right track?

I know the Raw mix I use recommends if your dog is working a lot (or workign in cooler temps) you can add more fish oil caplets to the diet. It was meant more for mushers but I'm sure that is an easy way to get more calories without bloating up your dog with more food.

Here's a source for green tripe online:
http://greentripe.com/
Bravo also has green tripe (they don't show it online but they do have it) so if you have a distributor near you they can probably order it:

FWIW, my former boss' GSD was very thin until she hit 2 - 2.5 years. She then filled out nicely.
