I took my 8 month old vet to my vet for preliminary hip and elbow x-rays as required by my breeder's contract. I had discussed doing pennhip instead but the breeder is not comfortable with pennhip. I made copies of the x-rays with my web cam and sent the pictures to the breeder. The actually x-rays were sent to her vet, whom is a vet that specializes in working K9s. I am waiting for his interpretation. The breeder states that the positioning is poor because of the rotation of his pelvis in the x-ray, thereby causing one hip to look real tight and the other subluxated. My vet when showing me the x-ray said that the left hip looked good but the right one had a some laxity but still a lot of growth plate. He described HD as a change and currently there was no change in shape of either (everything nice and rounded and uniform) hips but he was not comfortable with the right hip. So my point to all of this is that to me it would seem that improper position can weigh the result one way or the other. Why is there so much resistance to pennhip? I ask because my breeder says see does not recommend it as does my training director. From what I read about pennhip there is less chance of inaccurate interpretation. I will try to setup a web page with the x-ray pictures shortly and edit this post.
BTW Joy if your are reading this, Bruno's temperament is fine and did fine on his evaluation by my training director http://www.geocities.com/schutzhundshep/AutoSnap0444.jpg

I realize the pictures are not the entire x-ray but the only way I could take these is by holding the x-ray in front of monitor and letting the web cams auto snap shot take the pictures. Crude method I know.
