I'm new to the forum and had posted about being afraid I made a mistake in rescuing an 8-week old pup from a shelter that turned out to be part GSD and part pit bull. His name is "Winger" (because I'm a pilot, not the 80's band). Here he is:

Hahaha, sorry. Nothing wrong with 80's bands.
He's "Winger" because of his slightly cockamamie ear. In aviation, when we drop a wing, some people call it a "winger." He looks like his wing (ear) is dropped.
I see I didn't really follow the correct protocol being new here. I just posted a little blurb and it looks like everybody posts something personal.
This is my first dog though I had German Shepherds as a kid. I found this forum digging through web information on the best way to raise my new puppy. This site is truly a gold mine. It's unbelievable what you can learn here.
I'm doing a raw diet and have been since I brought him home a week ago and he took to it just fine. Winger's a neutered male GSD/pit bull mix of some sort.
I live in California where I'm a singer and writer. I also fly airplanes to keep me sane. I don't have a picture with my pup so I just posted his picture. That's what everybody wants to see anyway.
Thanks for the welcome and I will try not to ask dumb newbie questions.
We welcome "dumb newbie questions" around these parts - depending on the content of course. But you don't seem like someone that would post something like "Can I feed my dog gravel?"
It is nice to see people in search of knowledge. If you really want to know about something don't hesitate to ask. You can't learn unless you do, and we are here to help!
Winger is an adorable little guy - just so you know those ears of his could change as he grows up. It keeps life interesting guessing what a GSD mix's ears are going to do next
He looks just like a Doberman/Pit mix a friend of mine back in Wisconsin has. He's a great dog. I tried to steal him once  Have fun with Winger, he sounds like a great lil pup!

Other than posting it in the correct forum, there really is no protocol. You can say as much or as little as you want! And if you say too little, we'll get it out of you eventually!
