i read somewhere that there are wirehaired Dutch Shepherds, is this true, and are they faulted for being wirehaired? Sorry, i don't really know anything about this breed, for the longest time, i thought they were black GSD's. Now i see some wirehaired ones.

That gets way more complicated. Most but not all of the short haired working variety have been crossed with Mals no matter what their papers indicate. This is a very difficult breed to get a grip on and understand. They can't be registered AKC. Schutzhund classifies them as a mixed breed. But hold on to your seat if you get a good one.
i see. i don't have one, but i was looking through a dog book, and saw one. I have a secret love for big wirehaired dogs. Then i realized this was the same dog, and was intrigued. I would love to see a wirey dog streak across a field and bite!
Carol: looked at the link on the wirehaired, loved it, never say this breed before, thanks for the pics, this dog is now one of my favorites, not recognized by the american kennel club, that is fine with me!
The Belgian Laekenois is not a wirehaired Dutch Shpherd. The Belgian Laekenois is a variety of Belgian Shepherd. Like the Belgian Shepherd, there are 3 varieties of Dutch Shepherd - based on the coat type (short, long, rough). Here's a link to photos of a wirehaired dutch shepherd (hollandse herder ruwharen):
