My pup is about 7 months now. He still eats CS puppy food, but Im curious as to how he'd do with Innova Evo. Is it too early to switch him to this food?

Why 18 mos?
I was told by my vet to switch to adult food within a few months to prevent her growning too fast. Not familiar with this food, is there something up with it that requires them to be 18 mos?
I've heard anywhere from 6 months to 2 years. my first rottie I switched her over at about 11 months. my second rottie I swtiched him over at 6 months. both made the transition smoothly and have had no real problems. Im just curious because I've heard with EVO, it may have too much protein for pups.

Too much protein? For puppies? Carniverous canines? Too much...protein? Hehe. Well, I certainly don't know much about dog food, but when I compare Innova to the Raw food that I've given my dogs for the last 6 months, I don't see how it could possibly have too much protein.
As far as the original question, I switched at 6 months. Like others, my understanding was that puppy food may not be beneficial for more than 6 months, and could contribute to unhealthy growth patterns. I honestly think that there are a lot of different opinions on this, and no real science to back it up. Find the path that makes the most sense for your dog. Feel free to experiment.
Of course, you can switch to raw feeding ANY time.
Actually raw has less than Innova EVO. The company itself actually has the disclaimer that it should not be fed to puppies until finished growing. 18 months might be a stretch but it is what the company says. CHANCES are you will not have any problems.
Oriejn large breed puppy has no grain and just as much protein?!?! Gets confusing becaus then the Solid Gold no grain formula says also not to feed to dogs under 1 year.
Good luck sorting it out.
well, I forgot to stop by the pet shop after work yesterday so no EVO yet..hehe. I am having the hardest time finding chicken necks and backs locally. Kingston is gonna be 7 months tomorrow and Im eyeballing his weight to be about... 65 - 70lbs. he's totally healthy. if EVO may be not so good of a choice now, I may consider RAW again. if so, regular chicken thighs and easier to get parts may become his diet. is this good? Im thinking a couple of thighs and maybe an egg in the AM and some thighs and ground beef in the PM? its been a while since I last did RAW so Ima have to read up to refresh myself before I commit to anything. any info is greatly appreciated !!!
