I gave Kodee some raw liver yesterday with his THK Force food. He's never had liver (beef) before, so I only mixed maybe 1/4-1/3 cup of it (kind of cut up a little) into his food.
At first I thought he wasn't going to eat any of his food at all (he didn't act interested in his food at all), but he finally ate just a little bit of it, and vomited it up (there were chunks of the liver in it . Is this common? Or should I just not give him liver again? (It wasn't outdated or anything, I had just bought it at the grocery store specifically for him, and gave it to him the next day).
(He hasn't had any symptoms of being sick/lack of appetite or anything, before or since then).
He's never had any organ meat before, just raw chicken (including bone), raw beef, raw eggs. Maybe I goofed - I gave him what I thought was a fairly small amount (less than 1/2 cup). Also, he only at a little bit of it - most of the liver and THK was still left in his bowl. He just threw up what little he ate...

Should I have started w/poultry organ meat?
Not necessarily, but chicken livers are small and maybe a little less rich than beef and you can start with like a half of one and move up from there easily. I feed beef liver about three times a month, then some buffalo and deer, but most of it is chicken.

Thanks, all. He is perfectly fine now - ate like it was his last meal tonight (just Orijen w/Vit E and Salmon Oil). He's been acting perfect since the one vomiting episode.
I just feel bad - I will try chicken liver next time, in a very tiny amount, and see how he does. Thanks again for the help!

I just feel bad -
Well, I doubt that he does.
Dogs are very good at getting rid of stuff (at both ends) that might be causing any distress.... often very matter-of-factly and with no lingering nausea that I can detect.
