Wow, thanks for the heads up. That will be an interesting show - and probably a really bad thing for the puppy millers. Oprah has a huge following and Lisa Ling is an excellent investigative reporter. I imagine this will make quite an impression on people.
Honestly I'm not sure what to expect from this show. After all Oprah did buy 3 rare white Golden Retrievers. She would be in a great position to educate people on how to go about finding a good breeder if she knows herself that is.
I didn't see the Oprahn episode but I doubt if anyone, anywhere will ever shut down Puppy Mills.
Thity nine years ago (now you guys all know how old I am) our very first German Shepherd came from a pet store and hence a puppy mill. Two months after we bought the dog, the esteemed NY Times ran an expose on Puppy Mills. I wrote to them saying they were part of the problem by running ads from pet stores, etc.
And here we are in 2008 !!! More exposes but we still have puppy mills. All we can do is be collectively indignant and try to educate our non-dog friends.

Sickening isn't it. Nothing seems to have gotten better. Unbelievable to say the least...and heartbreaking.

IMHO, it is the easy way out for people to buy their pets from a
"store" rather than do the research or go to a shelter. People who take the easy way out to obtain a pet, will also take the easy way out with training and care as well, which will result in another shelter animal or the animal will be PTS.
Pet stores do not even ask questions except for "Can I see your ID?" when you use a credit card or write a check.
Pisses me off.
But until people start avoiding the pet stores to buy live animals, there will always be this issue.
