Some working dog/personal protection/sport/police enthusiasts from a couple of clubs in the UK and a forum,had a KNPV day yesterday...

A dog breeder friend of mine, Ian Walshall, invited some of his KNPV Dutch contacts over to England, UK for a demonstration and a training day..

The result was a superb day of demonstrations of the KNPV (Dutch police dog) training/certifications and then an opportunity for us to work our own dogs on their decoys....

Under the guidance/instruction of the Dutch police guy, Xena and I took part at time 03:38 in the video...

The KNPV method is for handler and dog combined to be involved in the fight... So instead of the dog on the end of a lead, you hold the collar and place the dog on the decoy in this part of training, and are up close&personal with decoy and dog.. constantly encouraging the dog and making the animal feel as if it's them and you in the fight together..

It makes so much sense...yet is often forgotten I believe in other working/protection work... (in my case anyway)..
