I was on here a while ago as I was originally planning on getting a doberman and getting involved in schutzhund. I now have a Cane Corso rescue, he's just over a year old. I'm looking for a club to do some training with him. He's a smart dog and he needs some extra mental stimulation. We're doing ok as is, but I thought it would be a nice of a challenge for us (who am I kidding, me) to actually try to accomplish something.
Can any one recomend anything? I fired off an email to the toronto schutzund club (Vince) but never got a reply, I'm not sure if their still around?? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
i had an issue w/a trainer recommended to me by both toronto-area SchH clubs....actually, people on here were really great about confirming that the advice i was given was as terrible as i thought it was.
if you're interested, PM me and i can give you the name of the trainer and explain my concerns/issue.
edit to add: i visited vince's club w/teagan though she got diagnosed w/HD and a bone chip in the left hip a week later, so didn't do SchH. i'm not certain of the club's attitude to 'off' breeds. i know of another trainer about an hour outside of toronto that i've seen work dogs for SchH and FR (some dogs from a breeder i'm looking at are worked there) and i'm really impressed w/him - also if you're interested.
