Does anyone know anything about Blue Wilderness food? It is listed as a 6-star food at http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com . I'm thinking of switching my dog to this food from what she is eating now. My ultimate goal is to move to raw, but I'm still doing research / gathering information about that. In the mean time, I want to switch her to a better food. I'm interested in this one because, like I said, it is listed as a 6-star food on that web site, and it is available to me locally. I wondering if anyone has had any experience with it.
It's a lot better than their normal stuff, but I would try something entirely grain-free first. Seems to still have quite a bit of starch (several potato sources) and oatmeal. Not all bad, but I'd pick something like Orijen first.

No recommendation for dog food, but just a nudge to make the switch. I think everyone that considers feeding raw goes through the same process. I know I did, and that was over 8 yrs ago. I've read most of the books, but my favorite for starters is Raw Dog Food - Make It Easy for You and Your Dog. The title says it all. Just start simple and go from there. Once you get going, it's easy to make changes and adjustments if needed. And there is no better resource than the collective knowledge and experience of the forum members here.
After you get going, you (and your dog) will be thinking, "What took so long to make the change?"
I have been researching this for a while, and I am absolutely going to make the switch. I'm at the point now where I am just trying to figure out where I am going to get the food. There is always ground beef on sale at Walmart or Kroger, but I don't know where I'll be able to get chicken backs / necks. I also need a new freezer I've just got to get the logistics of it figured out.
I have read several books, and all the information I can find about it on this site. I think I will also get the one mentioned above. But in the meantime, I want to switch Abby to a better kibble. To be honest, I'm astonished at how bad the food she is currently eating is for her. I had no idea. Its way down the list on the dog food review site. I feel terrible for doing that to her. I just want something better for her that I dont have to order from the internet until I get everything in place for her new diet.
I don't know which of the 6 star kibbles can be purchased other than online, as I have never bought any of them. The one really good kibble that I have bought was Flint River Ranch and it's online, too.
The only 6 star one that I have seen is the Blue Wilderness. Petsmart carries it.
They do?
I almost bought it yesterday at my local retailer that I buy dog food from. My retailer also carries:THK, Evo, Innova, basically all of the upper lines. I actually looked at the bag.
I will check the site and see if my Petsmart carries it.
The Petsmart version seems to be a different blend than the one I saw in the other retailer store. The Blue Wilderness bag has a different image on it, and a different food combination; higher protein and fat. I think it is a lower grade that Petsmart has.
