I have a 2 year old female GSD that has been vomiting after drinking water. I have noticed this the past several weeks, maybe 3-5 times a week. At first I was thinking it might be my 7 monoth old GSD Male. But I have finally nailed it down to my female. She is fixed... she eats well, drinks, no weight loss, no problems in any other way.
I've been reading on the web... It is NOT BLOAT.
I think she might be compeating for water with the young male, and she is just drinking too much.
Just need to hear your feed back. I have a call into my Vet, to see what they have to say.

I would agree that it sounds like she may be overindulging. How much does she drink at a time?
Is she doing this after play time or exercise? I would leave out less water so that she cannot drink a whole bunch at a time.
Also, what are you feeding?

some dogs just gobble water until they barf. Put down less or watch her when you do put it down and call her off of it with an enough command. I've never known a dog to drink water out of resource guarding but I guess it's totally possible. It can also be an indicator of a kidney problem.

I have a competive drinker started at 8 weeks old. We were haveing to keep a friend of mines American Bull pup at the same time if one of them came near the other with water on the floor down it would go. At nine weeks she drank over two cups in around 45 sec thats when the rationing really started on our part, and we still ration to this day. As a pup she would drink so much she couldnt eat. We broke her by leting her drink all she could and then puting down her favorite food sounds mean but she soon realized she had to leave room to eat. Now she will still ggoruge herself if we let her, we give her a correction if we catch her siting down to drink.
Thanks for the feedback, if anyone else has this, I would like to hear. I spoke to the vet and she agrees that we should limit her water when this is taking place. I did just that yesterday and everything went well. So... keep your fingers crossed, and maybe I wont be cleaning up PUKE 5 times a week.
