I shot a video of me working with her yesterday. I shot it with the ball, which is the item causing her the most stress. With the tug, she is no different than she was before the boarding kennel. (those that don't know what I am talking about read here: http://www.leerburg.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=195080#Post195080
She is really coming around! Still a little head shy when I have the ball, and still reluctant to engage, but with a LOT of fast movements (go figure!) over her head (which took me a day or two to figure out - with her head-shyness, I was avoiding whizzing the ball over her head) Goes to show, I was trying to move slow to not scare her and she needed me to make it impossible to ignore! Anyway - here is the video. At one point she lost her footing and slipped and still got back up to engage! Still not holding completely like before, but DEFINITELY getting better! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WE0U7LUwyjw

She looks great Cameron! Nice work. I'm curious, if you let her win the ball; does she hold it or drop it?
depends!
The first day she would not even hold it, turned her head to the side to look at me.
The night before I shot this video was the first in 3 days (i think???)that I had even brought out the ball. I worked with her tug a lot showing her I really DID want her to play no matter what the moron made her think. She really seemed to be waiting to be corrected for playing. She sometimes will hold on, but mostly she backs down right now. The fact she is grabbing it then letting go is huge as she is starting to play "ball" again for sure! Tonight she was holding on a lot more, and for longer. Actually had to use the "out" command at one point when she latched on as I was starting to put the toy away. I'm using the approach of she can do NO wrong when we are playing, no matter what. (i haven't had to wear bandaids on my hands since she was 6 months old!) We are getting there though. I'm thrilled she is playing with the ball again.

Great to hear that your pup is recovering from her awful kennel/training experience. Just wanted to mention that while I was at You Tube, I checked out your pit bull video. Nice work! It made me cry a little bit though...
Thanks. I started that video when I still lived in Maine actually ;-) A couple of those dogs were rescues from there. It makes me cry everytime I watch it and I MADE the video!
