Hello Everyone!
I'm 22, and located in Sacramento, CA. I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone here and reading/learning a LOT! It's somewhat odd for me to end up here. I've owned/worked/trained my own dogs since I was quite young, however have found problems and holes in the usual obedience training I've taken. When I was younger a family member of mine, a police officer, had a K9 who wasn't really treated very well. He wasn't by any means a family pet, but was great at what he did. However he was very human aggressive to EVERYONE other than my family member. He did end up biting me once, and it scared the crap out of me. Anyhow, ever since then i've kind of been wary of GSD/Malinois ect. So this is kind of, me kicking the bucket and facing that fear and really learning what they are all about. I currently work with APBT rescues, and want to get on a higher level of training and working since these dogs have great working attitudes..and are much happier when they have a job! Anyhow, I look forward to chatting with everyone and learning all about these wonderful working dogs.

I'm so glad to have found this site with all this information. Not to mention the fact that it is all very fact based and all makes sense! It's the happy "medium"..I've tried everything from the all positive methods to the "ancient" man handler ways and there truely is a "fair" way to do it all which gets you much farther. Nice to see so many others who've figured that out to. I was beginning to run out of hope!

" all to the "ancient" man handler ways..... "
"Ancient man handler ways"...so you've met Bob Scott, eh?
Sorry, inside forum joke, Bob is so old that he started training on cave wolves way back when...
He says that tracking is easier now that the glaciers have retreated since the last Ice Age..

Will, you just KNOW that Connie is like that kid sister that everone grew up with.
She's gonna run and tell just to see what kinda trouble she can stir up.
I tried taking the batteries out of my hearing aids but she just yelled through her megaphone.
Damn cave wolves never would let me pick up the articles to show the judge. Possessive little bassids! It got a lot easier when we started feeding them on a regular basis.
old dogs LOVE to learn new tricks |
