Well, mark this one up to "owner not watching his dogs!"
This morning hubby had both dogs loose in the house and he was busy surfing the internet. Roxie was laying nicely next to him. He didn't notice that Nickie had left the room. Also didn't notice that Roxie's ecollar had come off! This has happened before when the dogs have been rolling around together in the back yard - he has found her collar laying in the grass on a couple of occasions.
So, he found Nickie in the front room chewing up the cinch collar! Fortunately the actual electronic box part of the ecollar was not harmed in any way. Seems like the little slide part of the cinch collar is very easily moved to where the "orange" or "unlock" portion is and then it's just a matter of pressing on the button to undo the collar.
A lesson learned - always have your eyes on your dogs or else they are in their crates!

My favorite hat met the same demise...
comical, but frustrating

Cameron - I have a feeling your favorite hat wasn't $22 plus S&H! Or maybe on the other hand, it was!

oh, that sucks. dogs have no taste in what they eat. if it makes you feel better, i once left my nice glasses on the coffee table during a nap and teagan ate (well, she didn't swallow) my glasses. thank goodness i had an old pair of the same prescription, and i was pretty well able to account for all of the glass, and she had no cuts in her mouth.
Teagan!

Oh well, at least we still have the two plastic buckle collars that came with the ecollars - it's just that the cinch collars are so very convenient to take off and on (apparently TOO convenient for unsupervised smart dogs!)

I haven't ruined a Cinch It yet but the collar slide lock moves to unlock very easily. I am always finding it in the unlocked position.
This is a great invention but the slide lock is a definite flaw. The receiver could be lost along with the collar.
Cinch It needs to correct this problem.
Hopefully Ed will see this thread and notify them about this issue.

I also seem to constantly be finding the collar unlocked. Thought maybe my dogs were "special"

Yep, it definitely is a flaw because we have found BOTH cinch collars in the "unlock" position on many occasions. Seems like there should be more of a "click" or something when the button is moved from one side to the other. Obviously I'm no expert in this area - just an observation . . .

I must have gotten 5 good ones. I have never had an issue with the locking function.
Interesting and I will start keeping an eye on it though.

Cameron - I have a feeling your favorite hat wasn't $22 plus S&H! Or maybe on the other hand, it was!
To date, my "wonderful" boxer has eaten:
5 pairs of oakley sunglasses (I had a HORRIBLE habit if setting them on the coffee table when coming home from an EMT shift, then crashing. I'd let the devil out to pee, and she would manage to get them, and take them somewhere (usually her crate) and demolish them. Lost 5 in a year or so. Sucks when your work shifts are 24 - 72 hours long and you are so tired you don't notice your pup is chewing on sunglasses until it's too late.
2 hats (one at 4 months, one a month ago, and yes it was a $22 or so dollar 5-11 hat. AND my favorite!
1 Clemson flag and holder (pulled it down from the flag holder)
several bowls
a few matchbox cars
a lot of lego bionicles - to include Mutran, Vican, Vultraz, and a few battle vehicles. (youngest brother had a bad habit of leaving them on the floor or next to the kennel, and the fantastic chew monster would pull them into the kennel and demolish them.
I think at one point she also got a card of board game or somethign like that.
A lot of her mishaps were a result of me working odd shifts and her not being watched closely enough. She became VERY good at sneaking off with an item to her crate to quietly chew. Great example of WHY crating and tethering is SO good. (Hard to bring family on board when she stayed with them while I worked. Glad things have dramatically changed career wise for me - more time for the pups!)
