I got a chuckle from what was printed on the "Judges" page:
"We are currently seeking qualified judges".
Maybe it's just me, but I'd have the judges already online if I was going to advertise with the statement "this will be our best show to date".
But that's just me, I guess....

What I find interesting, among other things, is that under the explanation of "Real Deal", it is supposedly a "true test of a dog's willingness to bite an actual aggressor". But than it goes on to say that the dog should bit the arm and that "only one presentation of the arm will be given". Last time I looked, real bad guys don't present their arm for a bite....
Also, the fact that spectators can bring their dogs to the trial just seems like one big liability nightmare to the lawyer in me.

WOW,,,,
Is this the board reacts to all new people that post? Or am I the Lucky one? The moderator starts off the negativity? That's a different approach.
The website is not updated yet, we DO have our judges set now, we have put on a few shows thus far and this will be our best show, we have never had a complaint about or judging from competitors or the crowd. Anyone who has actually attended one of shows will tell you that they were judged very fairly.
It's quite disappointing to read these responses here.
We do a pretty good show as far as personal protection shows go, fair competent judging, great awards, a variety of skills are tested, and by far the best raffles and prizes for these types of shows. The shows are entertaining and we have had great support from the dog community until today I guess.
Anyone can nitpick what they want...But I think its in pretty poor taste for a moderator to jump all over something that has thus far been a positive thing for the working dog community, as soon as its posted.
Yes we present the arm in the event, if you can think of another safe way for a decoy to take bites in a hidden sleeve, in street clothes, with dogs he's never worked before, I'd love to hear about it.
Do they not present the arm in SCH? or PSA Carjacking?
Anyhow, we do a great show, give great prizes, have never had a complaint about anything, so I don't really see the reason to start bashing us immediately...I guess maybe I picked the wrong board to try to give away a New Bite suit on... (maybe it was the wrong brand of bite suit? I'm guessing)
I was really not expecting this type of reaction here. I guess I will not be posting on this board anymore, considering the warm welcome...
Also, I do not have time to keep up with this thread if it turns into a bashing session, just wanted to let people know about the show in case they might be interested in competing.
I must say it was an interesting experience posting here, not the response I hoped for considering the amount of product that I have purchased from Leerburg over the years.

Well, ya gotta admit, your first post is an advertisement, your second is a bitch, so people are skeptical. We can't guess that your website hasn't been updated. I won't comment on the arm thing, my dogs kind of take what they can get.

Joby,
My reply was not meant to belittle your organization. My question is an honest one - your "real deal" talks about sleeve presentation. If it is supposed to be a personal protectionesque scenario, why the sleeve presentation? I am not experienced in personal protection competitions so this is new to me per se. Are all the dogs competing solely sleeve oriented? If not, if your helper is only wearing a hidden sleeve in street clothes, it sounds like that could be dangerous.
I stand by my liability comment. Please consider it as an honest concern. If the spectators with their dogs are not signing waivers, it opens up the organization and the facility to potential liability.

Sorry, I just call them as I see them, and when a show is advertised as a big taado but the Judges and Decoy pages are "we're looking for qualified...", well, that's just unprofessional, sorry.
And the policy of allowing spectators to bring dogs to a show is just stupid, not to mention dangerous. An organization that would allow this has serious issues regarding their common sense.
And "hardest hitting dog contests" are just...dumb. They put dogs at risk and I place them in the "dark underside" of dog showing, along with pit fighting - they appeal to the same sort of intellect.

OK thanks for the concern. We have professional decoys, at our other show a national level SCH decoy (Steve Beal) did our hardest hitting contests for us, all dogs were caught safely...We are not backwoods morons....
Like I said we present the arm, for safety reasons, bites are taken through car window, or vinyl D.O.D. window jump made by Vinylworks.
Again thanks for the concern..Like I said I don't have the time or the interest to keep up with compounding negative posts.
You guys have a great day.
