I have a muscle...oh..I mean dog who likes to pull me around full speed, all the time. I have a repaired herniated disk in my back and i am afraid that if i do not do something he will cause it to herniate again, or cause another to do so.
Rebel is a 95-105 lb Pit bull/ Shar-pai mix. His neck measures 18.5-19 inches at the place where the prong collar should be placed (high up) If anyone could helpme out, that would be great
Brenda? Brenda?
How the heck did I get Brenda out of Amber!!??
Okay it's official, my brain is fried. No more of this linking business. I've learned my lesson. The taxation is just to much for the weak minded.
(and Brenda, er I mean Amber, as a reminder, you are welcome to post links to pictures of your dog but the policy is not to put the actual pic in the message. Sig pics are okay though.)
Hope the prong helps you! He looks like he needs lots of walks! Don't forget to use a backup collar as prongs can come apart if the dog bolts suddenly.
Welcome to the board! How old is your dog? Just wondering if he has stopped growing yet! Based on the sizing chart, I think I would get an extra large and take out a couple of links as needed! Either that or you could get the large size and buy some extra links to add if the collar is too tight.
Either way, definitely use a dominant dog collar along with the prong collar as a back-up - Angela is correct in stating that a prong collar can come off unexpectedly if you give a strong "pop" - you can see that happen with Ed in one of the videos.
Hi Amber, welcome!
I have a bullmastiff/shar pei mix, and she weighs in at 90 lbs. I got a medium prong for her, with a couple of extra links.
The smaller the links are, the lighter touch you will need to apply to make a correction ( and the less likely the dog will be able to pull you when he's wearing it, IMO)
He is 2 years, so I hope he is done growing! by the time he is 10, he will be a small elephant!! lol just kidding. I have a dominant already.
I went to petsmart to see which would fit him, and I like either a medium or large, I think extra large would be too big, and small would be, well, to small. The medium seem like it was 3 links too small, so i would deffinatly need extra links, and the large was a bit loos on him, it was able to slide down after he moved a bit, but didnt seem like it was a link too big, maybe half a link.
