I have lots of the toys from Leerburgs now and my dogs love them. I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on some different toys that they have found to be safe and the dogs enjoy.
My dogs are really toy driven and I like to change their toys often. When you go in to the stores, there is so many unsafe toys and pure junk.
I play with them in and out of water, so suggestions for toys for either would be appreciated. Looking for puppy thru adult stages.
Thanks for any suggestions....
Funny you mentioned this. My dog loves to bite, however, I wanted to give him something to chew (as he is still a puppy) and thought this would occupy his mind when lying around the house. So I went to PetSmart and spent $20 bucks on a Nylabone (XL rubber bone - tear resistant) for him to chew on, 15 minutes after I got home, it was completely destroyed - large chunks ripped into it. Needless to say I am returning it ASAP.
My concern is similar to yours but I am trying to find a toy my dog can chew on while I leave him unsupervised and not worry he will tear it apart and choke to death! I'll let you know if I find anything!
Chuck, have you looked on line in the Leerburg cataloge? everything I got there is still in tact, and I got my toys a year ago.
I stay away from the cheap rubber ones at pet stores and I do not leave my toys around for the dogs to play with any time they want. If you haven't done so yet, look in the leerburg catalog.
God Bless you

Holee Rollars are a time honored favorite although I have no idea admittedly where they are made. There is always of course the Kong toys which can float or not float depending on what your needs are.
Another option since you mentioned water is the old fashioned boat bumpers for retrieving and the ultra balls from chuck it!
http://leerburg.com/1166.htm - this is a great replacement for tennis balls. I just found out Leerburg sells them. I get them at my local pet store. The original one I bought has been through 7 dogs (I foster) and just has some teeth marks on it. My dogs will destroy a tennis ball is under 20 minutes, (not to mention the tennis ball will destroy their teeth).
I have one holee-roller that none of my dogs will look at But they like the squeaky Kong Wubbas for tugging and nylabones for chewing.
I have found those floating toys made of what I think is called "injected foam" to be very durable, even with my determined chewers. They are lightweight and even have squeakers which my dogs love.
As an update - I exchanged the Nylabones for the XXL Extreme Kong and it has made it 48 hours with no signs of wear ;-). As a side note the Everlasting fun ball that I bought (actually I bought two, one a large and one a medium), have had mixed results. The medium was not thick enough and has been destroyed but the large is still going strong. The point I wish to make is that if you have a dog that loves to chew and has very good bite strength, better to get the toy on the big/extreme size as they appear to be thicker and provide more longevity, even if your dog does not yet meet the size recommendations (mine is still a puppy and under all the weight recommendations for the XXL or Extreme size toys, but he has destroyed every toy but those).
