I have been watching this dvd for the past few days, I don't really have any questions on the training itself as of yet. I'm someone who will have to watch it many times to find the answers myself and will probably be posting training questions later.
My random, silly question is about one of the dogs in the dvd. When Bernard is demonstrating the "into my arms" portion, he is working with a dog that I can't tell what it is in the dvd. It looks kind of like a Leonberger, but then I noticed it's ears came up a few times, so that's not it. It may very well be a GSD, but as I'm having to watch the dvd down at our kennel (during breaks) on a portable player with a small screen I can't tell for sure. My husband says it makes him think of a Golden Retriever crossed with a GSD the way it moves.
Just curious, as you can tell I'm like one of those dogs who gets easily distracted LOL.

Well, that was my first guess when my husband and I were watching it, but something about the head shape and rear movement made me think not. Although I have noticed that the pic on my dvd is very wide, when I compare to the pic on the box everyone in the dvd looks short and wide LOL, so maybe that is it.
Thanks for the reply!

Are you viewing it in Stretch mode on a widescreen display perhaps? The aspect ratio on your portable player might be set incorrectly, so it'll stretch it width-ways to fill the screen. I don't believe the LB DVD's are filmed in widescreen, so on a widescreen TV or portable DVD player one of 3 things will happen. Either it'll make people look short and wide (stretch-mode), or it'll have black or grey bars down the left and right side so the picture in the middle is square (regular 4:3 mode), or it'll be in zoom-mode, meaning it fills the screen, and people look normal, but a certain amount of the top and the bottom of the picture will be off-screen.

LOL, Annette that must be some distorted picture you've got. In real life Leonbergers look like a mastiff with longer fur.

That could be it. I have had the DVD (and a few others) for a long time but we have been so busy at the kennel that we never got around to watching them. Finally we remembered the player we bought for long car trips and dug it up to use down at the kennel when we have a few minutes down time. It's an older one, so not very fancy but I do have the manual in the box so will look up how to set the display. Thanks for the suggestion, I would have just continued watching Oompa-loompas working dogs forever LOL.
