i have no idea where he got it, which bothers me b/c i can't figure out where i should be redoing my dog proofing, but an hour ago luc puked (regurgitated? brought back up anyway) up a lace (like a shoe lace type thing, though none of my shoes appear to be missing laces).
i'm hoping there's nothing still in him. do i need to be worried? is this like if a cat ate some string?
i'm thinking to just watch him. he's been normal in his bowel movements and eating. i think this is something that went down and back up again pretty quickly, since it did not appear to be in a degraded condition.

Probably fine.
Your approach to the matter sounds very reasonable. Heck, he's probably ate and passed worse that you didn't even know about.

Are all your pairs of shoes accounted for? Does every shoe have its mate?
True ate a whole shoe once...fortunately for him it wasn't my shoe or he wouldn't be here. I like my shoes. He ate the whole thing...a small canvas snack.. and carried on like nothing happened.
After living through 3 obstruction surgeries with my girl, and countless other scares (10 corn cobbs downed in less than 2 minutes...sigh) I have learned whenever I see anything suspicious I always monitor the following:
1. Any changes in normal bathroom routines
2. Staining of any kind
3. Loss of appetite
4. Behavior changes
Just pay attention for the next 3 days...it usually takes three days for these kind of issues to show themselves.

Ya gotta love Labs! My lab mix as a kid had a slipper fetish, but never managed to consume an entire one...
That's quite a feat...
Jennifer, I think you'll know in a few days if you have a problem. Just keep doing what you're doing...
thanks guys. so far, still normal, though he is sleeping a bit more than usual, but i'm inclined to place that on the being up non-stop hiking overnight.
