I posted it on my MySpace page at the top so every time I refresh it all the people on my list will see it. And if they post it on their sites and their friends post on their sites and so on and so on.....
I'm sorry, but this story sounds like complete and utter BS.
Why would a dog that doesn't know any of the people involved in the episode act aggressively towards a total *stranger* who just happens to be trying to rob someone? Is the dog psychic or something? Why would it be defending a total stranger? That behavior makes absolutely no sense.
And of course they can't find the perp, and of course there are no witnesses to the alleged robbery attempt.
There is nothing in that story that makes any sense, there are no witnesses, and the explanation that makes the most sense is that the woman made the story up.
Let's save our congratulations towards the breed's good deeds for events that actually occur, not stuff made up by someone looking for some attention.
I'm a big believer in Occam's Razor, which is the principle that the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.
Now to believe the first story it would require that a dog acted in an exceptional manner in a very unique situation - and nothing in what we know of canine behavior would account for a dog acting this way, true?
Not to mention that the situation involves a robbery in a public area that included a child present, which is not the most usual of occurrences. People with kids just don't get robbed or abducted as often as single targets for good reason - a perp has to control two people in that situation, which makes the odds of success lower.
Then let's factor in the convenience of no witnesses to back up this story with so many remarkable factors.
Or......... I can believe that someone saw a loose friendly dog wandering and they simply coaxed it up into their car and made up a story that required no witnesses - believe me, in law enforcement, we see weird stories like that all the time.
