I started fostering this guy a week ago. He's 7, and has a goofy personality. Curious, LOYAL, but a little shy of new people. He's learning QUICKLY, and I'm thinking that this might be the foster I end up adopting . The shelter was told he is pure german shepherd, but the moment I saw him I said no way, malinois. Here are some pics of the cutie.
I don't see Malinois here, mix maybe. Looks almost like an Anatolian mix. Definitely not a purebred GSD! How do you know he's 7? He looks really young. He's really striking and looks very nice from the pictures.
Wow, I'm kinda surprised you guys don't think so. To me he really resembles Cindy's dogs in the leerburg training videos.
His owner surrendered him a few months back after 7 yrs. This lady had him since he was 8 wks and dropped him off at a shelter in Wyoming before she packed up and moved to Cali. grrr. She swore he was gsd, as apparently his mother was but who really knows, he's probably a mutt. He's about 55 lbs (slightly smaller and definitely not as stocky as Kota). He's cross-eyed and one of his ears stands out to the side instead of straight up. I think he's super cute as he's so LOYAL and often goofy.
Angela, the big reason I think I may end up adopting him is because Kota really likes him. They romp in the yard, and since he's so particular about who he'll play with, I want to get him a buddy to keep him young.
Heather: I have almost made the decision to keep him, or at least train him for a family member. Both my brother and sister "want a Kota" aka a dog that's well trained and loyal. Frankie has SUCH potential and it's sad that someone wouldn't train/love such a great dog. I'm hesitant to adopt him because if he is added to the family I cannot foster any more dogs due to the size of my apartment. It's a tough decision as he is now keeping my feet warm and just let out a big happy sigh
oh no Angela, don't tempt me I don't need any more reasons to keep this little guy.
I live in an apt off a house, so we have a yard and some property but not much. I'm 23, so plans to buy a house are many years away. I love fostering because I learn so much about dogs and dog behavior since Kota is pretty low-key and easy to handle.
I am trying to convince one of my siblings to take him but my little sis is in school full time and my bro is in the navy. I try and pawn all my fosters off on friends and family sine I turn them into 'wonderful' dogs.
