So.....I'm making a brined Roast Turkey ( from a recipe I use from Alton Brown's "Good Eats" show ), mashed potatoes, homemade Turkey Gravy, stuffing, mashed sweet potatoes, yeast rolls and pumpkin pie with *real* whipped cream.

The swarm of locusts is descending upon my home. I am estimating their numbers at 25 along with an additional 4 dogs at the house for the day and into the next for those who fall into the dreaded post turkey coma. I took Wednesday off to prepare. Mom will be coming over in the morning as well to help.
On the menu:
Roast turkey
bread crumb Stuffin
Mashed potatos
Gravy
Curried Pumpkin Soup with caramelized onions
Green beans
green salad w/tofu for my two vegan guests
butternut squash
mom's baked onion dish
rolls
cranberry/raspberry sauce
Pumpkin pie
Pecan Pie
Choc cream pie
fruit punch for the children
2 buck chuck for the grown ups

My menu is pretty similar to yours...just doing one kind of potato (sweet)and adding a green veg for color. A full dinner for two people this year.
Homemade rolls and homemade cranberry sauce were finished yesterday. Pie dough is relaxing in the fridge as I type. *Real* whipped cream is the only kind to have.
The only pitfall to doing this meal is, having spent the entire day with it, I'm not very hungry when it's time to eat. I LOVE the leftovers!

When I was a kid, my mother had lemon meringue, apple, blueberry, pumpkin, chocolate cream, and pecan. (I have six siblings, one of whom who had to have his chocolate cream pie, and we had other rels over, too.)
Sigh
My favorite day.

Me too! I never understand people who complain about all the never-ending Turkey Day leftovers!

I know I am new here but IF I may ask.....where are you studying food? Johnson & Wales perhaps...or Cordon Bleu? I am not sure where you are located... but am curious if you don't mind...
I'd have no problem recommending the program for a motivated and prepared student.
I use that as a caveat as 80% of my class did not graduate, with most of those students not realizing how hard they'd have to work, both physically and academically to graduate - it's a lot harder than people think to learn and master the profession of cooking at the level of a Chef.
