I have a 9 ½ week old GSD who I am preparing for future SAR work. Last night when I took him out to do his business I dropped a flashlight and it landed on his front paw breaking a toe. Now he is in a cast for about two weeks, he gets around fair but is supposed to be kept semi calm for a couple days.
I am looking for advice on how to continue his training and socialization, I’m concerned that this is a critical time and he could miss out on some very important imprinting and socialization. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm sure you could teach a down very easy now
just kidding, I think the first 16 weeks is where you can do the most so I guess you still have time if he only will be in a cast for 2 weeks.
I know what your feeling, I dropped the flashlight in front of my griff while teaching him to ring the bell to go potty, needless to say it set us back at least a week and to this day he is scared to death of the flashlight. It wasn't intentional by any means, I just leaned over to give him his treat and the flashlight slipped. I felt and still feel terrible about making him scared to death of big blue flashlights. While Duck, our griff, didn't get hurt, I can understand where your coming from. I don't have any training advice for you, sorry. I am so new to this, I am still absorbing everything in, just wanted to let you know your not the only one who's ever dropped the flashlight and feels so terrible about it. I hope your pup heals OK, good luck!
