That's a marvelous story. And what, I wonder, is the basis of their relationship and how do they communicate to each other? (that's a rhetorical question; not really looking for an answer )

That just made my day. Amazing.
The Bark magazine ran a story a few months ago about that elephant sanctuary, and all the stray dogs that make a home there. I don't remember if they featured that particular relationship, but nothing beats moving images of those two - and hearing the sound Tara made (at least I think that was Tara) when Bella was carried out to her after weeks of being apart!! Priceless...

That truly is amazing. That sancuary is not all that far from me. They really do some worthwhile work with providing a "final" home for elephants. The story with that dog is just unreal.

Any behavior that is reinforced is more likely to occur again.
That is wonderful. I always marvel at inter-species friendships. My old Persian cat Chelsea had a thing for my iguana, Dizzy, and he for her. They spent hours gazing into each other's eyes!
