I couldn't believe what I'm seeing, but I don't think it is funny to let kids trashing around dogs' face or trying to ride on dogs' back. They are fortunately that they have great dogs, but I feel uneasy watching the video. I think an accident is waiting to happen.
I cringe when I see that.
My son was raised with my dogs, I love my dogs, and I trust the older two, but I never lever let them be unsupervised together until just recently. Two much can go wrong too quickly, even just by accident.
It is like the parents who let their kids come flying up to a strange dog and get in its face and be loud and obnoxious and say nothing. AAHH it makes me so mad.
YIKES. It's not a matter of if, just a matter of when. And when the inevitable happens, the dog will get blamed. I had a recent incident with a good friend: She is a dog person who now has a toddler. She emails pictures periodically, and the ones of her son with the dogs make me sad. In one, her old, sweet pit mix was completely covered on the couch by her sleeping son with an "oh, isn't he so good with the baby?"
They came over to my place one day and one of the first things the son did was to start grabbing at MY dog and subsequently slapped him across the face. Poor Murphy ran into my room, and I put up a gate and gave him a stuffed Kong to keep him out of harm's way. We see lots of kids that he has positive experiences with so he's fine, but that won't happen again.
The saddest part is that my friend was such a strong advocate for dogs and respecting dogs, and now that she's a mom, she doesn't even teach her son to respect her OWN dogs. It means I don't get to see my friend any more unless we meet at Starbucks.
