I have been asking alot of questions on this forum regarding kibble to feed a new puppy. I have done some research on different brands and I really like Solid Gold "Barking at the moon" dry kibble. I don't really want to feed raw right now. I can't get some of the foods that have been recommended in my area. I wanted to know what people think about the "Wolfcub" from Solid Gold.
I wouldn't feed it; if you want to feed Solid Gold, stick w/Barking at the Moon. I don't like the protein and fat levels, and also, it has a lot of grain.
There is a big difference in the quality of food between Solid Gold Barking at the Moon and the rest of Solid Gold's foods.
Basically, Barking at the Moon is their only grain-free food. The rest, like Hundchen & Flocken, Wolf King, Wolf Cub, etc, all contain grains. Their Holistique Blendz is almost entirely comprised of grains.
Granted, the grains are better quality than say, Purina, but they do still contain rice, barley and oatmeal.
Some dogs will tolerate this just fine, some dogs will not.
Depending on the age of the dog, I'd just feed the Barking at the Moon adult food.

Edit reason: Everyone posted while I was typing...
I would consider beginning the switch to Barking at the Moon at around 6 months of age. Until then I'd either A) continue the pup on what the breeder has been feeding it, or B) find another interim puppy food until the dog is old enough for an adult kibble.
Pure Bred? Never heard of it...I bet it's simply splended though. Unless I'm the only one who can't find anywhere on the site to read the ingredients...
