Hello my 7 month old cocker sleeps in a crate beside our bed at night. My wife and I think that the dog spends too much time in the crate and we were wondering if there is anything wrong in setting a blanket near the bed and having our puppy sleep there. I though of leaving her leash on and tie it to the side of the bed so she doesn't wonder off at night? any suggestions? is this a good one?
If your dog has been going in the crate at night since you got it, I would think it is quite comfortable in the crate at night. I know it isnt a good feeling to put your dog in the crate. But the crate isnt punishment, it is your dogs den.
My Malinois' crate is in the same room as my computer. I leave the crate door open and if I am working on the computer he often goes into the crate on his own and just chills.
He is 7 months old and I wouldnt dare leave him out at night. I know him and he would chew something up and be swinging from the fan.
You know your dog.
