I was just wondering how often other people are doing bitework with their dogs? What would be ideal?I guess it would depend on the dog.But can you do it to many days a week, would your dog loose intensity if it sees it to often?
Stop making excuses for your dog and start training it!
It's my understanding that it's not the frequency of the training but the time on the bite that will diminish intensity. If you trained morning and night building drive to a peak and giving one bite each time or no bite occationally, I don't think your going to burn out your dog. If it becomes too easy, predictible and routine for the dog, then I can see drive diminshing.
David : most people that i know train twice a week and work on other things in between , its not the amount of time you train ,but the work that you are doing ,and when you do it ,and if its correct. And it really depends from dog to dog. Some take longer than others in the three phases for sport. Puppy tug work i might do every day .Fence work three times a week ,bite work older dogs twice a week ,just depends on the level and the age of the dog ,and where they are in there training .Tracking i try to do as much as i can.
