Today we will be going with Huck Finn to our first flyball training session. Any tips for first time flyball participants? Anyone here cross train in flyball?
I just thought it might be fun for the kid and the dog (and me!) But I had never even seen it done until I started looking at videos, just knew the general idea.
My husband mentioned his interest in fly-ball once. Then a while later there was a dog competition shop on Animal Planet, had fly ball, frisbee throw, etc. When my hubby saw how noisy and crazy it gets, he was taken aback. I laughed and said, that something you want to do? His reply was he'll think about it, and until then stick with training and hunting with labs! lol
I have the patience and could tolerate the noise, I've thought about it more seriously. I just want to do so many things with my dogs, I must concentrate on one thing at a time.
Went and it was fun! Will likely go again...keep those dogs (and myself!!!) in shape. IMO, training for it is like a mega cardio blast! Once trained though, its all stand around commanding...lol! No worries though, I'll probably be training for a while.
Did you see enough to give a brief overview of training?
I know it can't be summed up in one post. Just vaguely.
I've really been throwing this around for Turbo and I.
The good, privately owned pet store that we go to has a team and offers training, too. They said my short dog, if he showed some promise, would be scooped up by any team with room.
