Hey there,
I just ordered my Kindle and am looking forward to getting it. While I mostly got it for school and it will be a good benefit for work (and of course, just simply reading a good book) I was wondering if there are any good books out there that you are able to get the PDF version of or any downloadable version.
One thing I am thinking will be good is getting the leerburg online books. Some books I really am looking for is Handbook of Applied Dog Behavior on digital.
Anyhow, I figured it would get the convo going.

I can definitely see how having the UCMJ and local Regs would be helpful.
You can download "The Two-Space War". The link is somewhere on Killology.com

I'd like to know what you think about it after you have it for awhile. I'm considering putting it on my birthday list.

There is a kindle store on Amazon.com, you can browse there to see which titles are available. Most of the dog training books available are the more "generic" titles. I haven't seen any really substantial training manuals available there yet.
Ed and I have had Kindles for over a year now. He actually just bought the new Kindle 2 this week. I'm happy with the first generation model although they have made some cool improvements on the new one. It's quite a bit thinner and it will actually read the book to you out loud.

Hey there,
I just got mine in the mail earlier today. I must say very very impressive at first. After having it with me for a bit and playing with it there still is a lot of room for improvement.
That being said, I planned on keeping documents and transferring PDF's over to it and such. I sent a PDF study guide to it and It went through but I think I am better cutting the study guide into sections in a .txt document and moving it over. The PDF transfer is not the best just yet.
Then again It is made for reading books and that part it really does flawlessly. I am still learning it, I wish we could make folders though, that would be extremely handy.

I keep contemplating getting one of these, but I am just so in love with books that I don't know if it will do the trick for me. I love the feel, the smell, the weight of a book in my hand, almost as much as the story. (jeez... I am a nerd LOL)
It would be great because it would save room, cut down on crap in the house, and even help a few trees.
But overall I don't know if it is worth it.
Do you use a USB type cord to download things onto them?

It downloads wirelessly. whereever there is a cell phone signal, it downloads. It's fast too, less than a minute.
I love real books too, my dad is a printer and an author. I had a part time job all through high school in the public library. I was (and still am) surrounded by hundreds of books every day.
I have found that if I find a really great book on Kindle, I end up buying the real thing to loan out or give for a gift. It's great for traveling, because you can bring your whole library with you in a small space.

I'm married to a retired librarian. We like books. But I'd like to have less clutter and a book that gets moved permanently into a box in the garage doesn't do anyone any good.
I don't like reading on my computer, I'd much rather sit in a comfortable chair and lean back and read. I think, don't know, but think the kindle would allow me to do that comfortably.

That's a big drawback. I like to read in bed.

The Kindle makes reading in bed a lot easier. I never used to read in bed until I got mine.
I didn't think I'd like it, but I do. I also use it to read at the gym when I'm doing cardio. It makes that tedious time go a lot faster.
