That is great. That is the most matter-of-fact malinois I have ever seen. He was so casual, or maybe I should say self-controlled. Like he's just having an outing in the park with his owner, bites some guy, and continues on his merry way LOL.
Can you tell me why the dog is heeling to his handler's right? Is this the way it is done in Belgian Ring? Also he is not looking into the handler's face as they do in Schutzhund. Is that correct or was it a fault?
Anyway thanks for posting! I love watching videos of man-dog teamwork.
In nvbk there is no rule as to the side the dog may walk
left or right no big deal
NVBK is down to earth kind of training. The dog has to do a job. If he does it standing on his head whistling a tune and having breakfast at the same time it doesn't matter. So if he has to walk from a to b and as long as he stays at the side of the handler it is ok. But don't be fooled by the casual looks. It is hard training.
Neat video. I liked the way the dog positioned himself over that... whatever it was... during the object guard - he kept climbing right back into it. At some point does a dog that's well trained in this sport make his own decisions about how to position itself over the object during the guard? I'm assuming the objects are arbitrary and could be something the dog has never seen before? Seems like the sport encourages a LOT of independent thought and decision making (both "go" and "stop") from the dog - truly wonderful to watch.
I also liked how the whole field was set up like a miniature grand prix horse jumping circuit - trimmed hedges, faux roman statues...
The dog has to guard the object, whatever it is, independently. Points are given in function of the distance before he starts the attack and the way he attacks
This exercise, escort of the decoy and the defence of handler are 3 excercises (sorry 4 the guarding is done with and without a muzzle) where the initiative lies completely with the dog. No orders are given.
I hope that a friend will put on the net a video of last sundays trail at our club. It was the most difficult and beautifull trail i have ever seen.
No dog did it without faults and every excersise was difficult.
