Ok so a lot has happened in the past few weeks but that a nother post anyway.
I only have phonix now and are paying for a kids medical bills so that should some it up.
Point being I cant afford to take phoenix for her yearly heartworm test to get her heartguard for the year.
So I was shopping around and found a site from the land down under Australia.
I can get it a lot cheaper and without a script from a vet.
I have done as much research as I know how to do. So I am still not completly sure. I can afford the meds just not the test and the vet visit and the meds.
She has never missed a month.
but I have until April 15 to make a order somewhere. So I figured I would ask here to see what others thought I have a friend that get revolution from them she turned me on to it.
I didn't research the company you linked Stephanie, but from this end I'd say suspect anything to cheap. If the savings are more than a couple of dollars as opposed to the vet, I wonder what exactly it is I'd be getting.
If I want to buy some Heartguard or Frontline I expect my vet to provide it without any BS about office visits or exam charges.
Walk right into the office front desk and say, "I need some Frontline and Heartguard please".
If it isn't produced with no hassle, 'x amount of dollars please'.....I'd find another vet. And let it be known loud and clear the reason I'm leaving for anyone else in the area to hear.......

Just go order it at your vet.

I can get the frontline no problem but it is required to get a yearly heartworm test for heartguard. At least here.
Would it be wrong to make the paper work look good and go to a new vet?
cause I know other vets will give it to you if you have the paper work. With out ever seeing the dog I am waying all my options here.
Phoenix has emergency pet insurence if anything where to happen to her. But I did not get the stuff to cover the yearly stuiff cause I dont vacinate

Check with your local Human Society and see if they offer low cost testing...if not, ask them for a low cost or free Vet in the area giving testing for low income families.....otherwise, yes it would be wrong to falsify paperwork.
I use a low cost clinic no dont really plan on making the paper work look good.
It would cost 20 for the test 15 for the visit
and 54 for the heartguad and 100 bucks for the frontline at a low cost clinic.
at my normal vet it would be almost double for the test and the vet visit. And about the same for the heartguard and frontline.
35 may not seem like a lot but I owe 35 at the low cost clinic also. so I cant pay that right now.
I am just strapped for the next year do to bruiser bighting a kid
I'm curious, what kind of justification do they give for not allowing the dispentation of Heartguard without a yearly exam?
Also the costs you quoted Stephanie, thats for a years worth of product?
In the past (hopefully not in the future) when I've been strapped for cash I'd buy just one or two months at a time, not a whole year in one big chunk.
A required yearly HWT is really not uncommon, at least around here. I was under the impression that all HWP is not the same, and some (when given to a dog with heartworms) can have serious medical consequences. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong here...
