My 10 month old GSD female has a problem with my two yorkies. They are rotated using the crates and they are never out at the same time. I am always assuming she will have problems with other dogs, especially small ones. My husband and a trainer has told me Im too paranoid with her. I always assume the worse is going to happen. Like she's going to attack someone's dog or something. But she's been to dog daycare twice now and I mentioned she shouldnt be around other females or small dogs. But he's german and was like "oh she will be fine, I am boss here" and said she mingled with all the dogs and the manager says she does just perfectly. But I know its my job to protect her from herself so I think my paranoia is justified. Should I lighten up or am I right to act this way with her?
Yeah yeah Connie,
It was more of a rhetorical guestion.
Why anyone would put the care of their dog in one of those situations is beyond me.
I'd think if anything, dogie day care would add to any problems she's having between the Yorkies and her GSD.

I couldn't agree more. Doggy (two Gs) daycare has to be one of the worst crapshoot ideas ever.
And no matter what form the Yorkie problems are taking, yes, doggy daycare would probably add to the problem, and also the fact the there WERE Yorky problems would wipe doggy daycare right off my list forever (if it had ever been on my list).
Doggy daycare is just not one of those things that feels negotiable to me. JMO.
sorry for not clarifying. it was more like day boarding. we went on a trip and wasnt able to find anyone i trusted to watch her. i told the german owner about her reactiveness and the problem with our little dogs. he said for me to just see what she would do and put her in an area with other dogs her size and she immediatly started playing with all the dogs. i just always assumed she was aggressive but he told me she was perfect all day, so maybe I have overexaggerated her problems? im still never letting her around my small ones though.
Well, you know your dog best. Could've been in a different, new situation she behaved differently.
I come from the perspective of having an aggressive dog, realizing it, but not realizing what it would like until one very horrible day. So I'm a total 'err on the side of caution' kind of person in this regard though.
