I have a stupid question but you will understand why I ask in a minute. Don't neutered dogs have the INCAPACITY to mate? If that is true, they missed something with Hambone.
He mounted and penetrated Lucy before I could stop him. (Out for a walk, stopped to smell the roses, and BAM!) He has balanoposthitis (prepuce infection AGAIN!) so he is on Keflex for that. Now, Lucy has a discharge and she is on Keflex too.
I understand he can't (God I hope!) get a female pregnant. Lucy is supposed to be spayed...but they didn't ultrasound like I asked and assumed the scar on her belly was a spay scar.
Well, that won't happen again. He felt (literally) my wrath at mounting Lucy and he definitely knows that it will not be tolerated!
I would be more concerned that the female isn't really spayed. She would almost certainly have to be a willing participant. Is she flagging-standing with the tail flipped to the side and "winking"?
Well, not that I have noticed. That was why I was concerned. But, then again, not ever owning an intact female, I don't know the signs...I do know the signs for a mare ready to mate. Can't be too much different. So, I will pay attention and probably have an ultrasound done if she shows signs of "flirting".
Some neutered males can go through the motions but with no swimmers. My old male is like that. I jokingly say it is all the fun and none of the consquences ;-) With that said, I don't let him jump my intact bitches.
