Yesterday at training:
I had just finished tracking with Danke, and she was safely shut in her crate, when my Training Director hollered to me, with a horror stricken look on her face, and pointed up the street.
Two black and white Border Collies were streaking up the street towards us. It took me a minute to realize why she had such a terrified look on her face. After all, none of our dogs were out of their crates, so they were in no danger.
Then I noticed the little yellow car.
My first thought was that the guy was actually trying to run the dogs over, intentionally!
Then I realized, the guy was running his dogs with his car.
Talk about sickening. I can't even tell you how close he came to hitting his own dogs several times.
I hollered, but of course he ignored me and kept on driving up the road, with his dogs darting and dashing in front of him, within inches of his front bumper (where the driver cannot SEE, BTW)!
In what world is this an acceptable way to exercise your dogs?

Wish we could exercise him the same way.

Probably the same world where it's OK to leave a dog loose or tied by the neck in the back of an open, moving pickup.
Did anyone get the license plate number?

Honestly, I was so in disbelief, getting the license didn't occur to me until he'd gotten too far away to read it.

Was that the guy and dogs playing frisbee at the other end of the field when I got there later?

Yup.
Consider it a testament to my respect for Karen that I did not go down there.
Well, that, and we've had threats of Animal Control due to our dogs barking.

I admire the restraint.
Really...threats of animal control for the barking. I wouldn't have thought anyone would be close enough to be bothered by it.
I just can't imagine that much stupidity on the owner's part. You'd think if he was going to be that idiotic, he at least would run the dogs behind the car or maybe on the side next to the sidewalk or something.
If he was taking them to play frisbee anyways, why not just transport them in the car and exercise them in the field. Sometimes I just don't understand people.

Well, before you met us, we had a member (she's since quit) whose dog was really, REALLY lacking in defense.
We put her on the fence, about 20 feet away from Danke, in the hopes that watching Danke do the "grr, I'm scary, listen to my big bad bark! Come closer so I can bite you!" routine, might help this dog develop a bit of a bark.
In the end, it was a waste of time, but Danke made a ton of racket and someone got butthurt and complained about it.
The person admits to hating dogs, and flat said that her goal is to get us banned from training there.

I don't understand when people who do stupid thing like that. Obvious that guy didn't research enough about border collie because BC needs a lot of exercise and mental simulations to keep them happy and calm by the end day. I guess he thought it was easier to drive and have his dogs jog by the car. There are other options where he can get his dogs tired and happy! Like playing fetch, retrieve ball, or whatever inside a large pen.

That's what really killed me about it.
He was taking his dogs to a HUGE open field, to toss frisbees for them!
So clearly, he had a method of exercise!
