First I would like to say Hello to everyone. Hello!
I have been a member of the forum for a few weeks now but have not posted until now because I have been without a dog. In essence I have been gleaning from everyone else's conversation while sitting quietly in a corner. I thing that I am at a position now that I am ready to jump in.
I have been talking to Kim Tsosie of Liebsthal Boxers. I am hoping that someone will know of her and/or her dogs and tell me whether they would buy a dog from her based of the following criteria:
I am married and have a 19 month old daughter.
I want a dog that will live a full healthy life.
I want a companion whom I can take camping/hiking and I can depend on to at least alert my family to an intruder (I am a police officer and have the appropriate tools to take care of most people who would come into my house assuming I'm awake :cool
I would like to become a member of a local Schutzhund Club and train with them, but I am not looking to win any national titles.
I want a dog that is driven and willing to learn but not so much to handle that a novice like myself would get overwhelmed. (note: My wife and I have both owned a few dogs in the past but have never trained a dog for any kind of competition)
I have become very particular to the Boxer. Kim Tsosie seems to really know the breed and know what she's talking about, but I was hoping to get a second opinion from some veterans of the dog world.
This site is the best source of knowledge I've found through hours and hours(probably more like days) of searching and I want to thank Ed Frawley and the Administrators who have taken the time to set this site up and monitor it each day to provide insight and guidance.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
I'm not sure but I am guessing a PM would be the most appropriate response to this?

I don't know who is Kim Tsoie or anything about her boxers. Have you seen the parents of her dogs working in the field? The best guy I believe to ask question would be Alex. He trains with his boxer in schutzhund.
Is this the link correct? http://liebsthalkennel.webs.com/

That is the right link. I don't know who alex is, if you have a last name or some other way for me to track him down I'd appreciate it. I have not had the opportunity to see the dogs work because I live quite a ways away and cannot afford to fly out there. That is a good thought though, I will see if she can get me some video or something.

I see no working titles on these dogs.
Either I missed them, or they don't exist. (I'm guessing the latter.)
If you want to do Schutzhund, I'd go with titled parents, when at all possible.
Not because of the titles, but because it means the breeder knows what a working dog IS, has worked their own dogs, and knows what the dog has that makes it worthy of being bred.

Just because a breeder has titled dogs does NOT mean they work there own dogs. There are many breeding titled GSD that do not work there dogs
IMO better advice to the OP would be to seek out a breeder that works there dogs and who breeds to produce working dogs.

This breeder is breeding show dogs ("Champion Producing" and "Show pics"). Also, I know nothing about the "white boxer" controversy or whether this is acceptable in the Boxer world, but she also produces and breeds whites. (Which are not showable, so I can't tell if she is actively showing Boxers?)
This breeder does not appear to have anything to do with Schutzhund, judging by her website.
Anyway, if you are looking for a dog for Schutzhund, you need to look at a kennel that does Schutzhund.
If you are looking for a show dog, then go to a kennel that produces show dogs.

Alex Corral is a member of this forum. He might have not seen the thread so I suggest you to send him a pm.

Josh,
The other place I would look if you are planning on pursuing Schutzhund training is a local club. You can go to this link USA Northeast Region
I am not sure where you are in Maryland, but, the first name you will see is Carlos Rojas, the N.E. Regional Director. He is in Sterling, Va., a Washington D.C. suburb, He is as knowledgeable a person that you will find anywhere in your area. He is not in to Boxers, but, should be able to direct you to someone who does train them. If he is too far away scroll down. There are other clubs in Maryland on the list.
The other place that I would look is the United States Boxer Association:
http://p2.hostingprod.com/@usabox.org/index.html
You can also contact Chris Becher from the East Wisconsin Working Boxer Club. http://ewwbk.blogspot.com/
I have met Chris and I have seen some of the dogs he works. He is a good guy and he does well with Boxers, as well as GSD's, Dutchies and Mals.

Thanks alot for all the info. I checked out the USA NE Region site and found a very local club. I'm gonna make contact with them.
My main intent at this point is not really to compete on a Professional level in Schutzhund, I would only like to find a club, make some connections and train in Sch. I don't plan to compete with this dog, Sch training would be more for the purpose of occupying my pups mind and helping me to learn to better communicate with him. One day, maybe a little later in my career/life, I would like to purchase a full blown working dog and compete. For now though, My intent is to have a great pet and learn how to be a good handler (through experince). SInce my OP I have made contact with several people who have purchased from this breeder, all are happy with their dogs which range from pets, to Agility competetors and Schutzhund competetors. Thanks for all the help, Its forced me to review my desire and expectations for this dog.
