I'm buying a GSD puppy from a reputable trainer/breeder near where I live. He's a friend of the family and he's won national Schutzhund championships, competed internationally and judges too.
He's got this litter that he says is world class. I've seen pictures of the sire and dame, beautiful dogs. I believe him too, upstanding guy. He says the sire is Ron, a German import with significant working dog accomplishments. The dame is Denisa, a Czech import who was top female (Czech) in 2006. I've tried to find these names on databases but I've had no luck.
I've already bothered the guy so much with other questions but forgot to ask this one. He recently had some health issues and I want to let him recoup. I was just hoping some of you guys might know these two parents.
I don't have the pedigree information yet. The guy has a website but he doesn't show his litters online. His site just says they have puppies from time to time and to call or send an email.
Realize that "Ron" and "Denisa" might be the dogs' call names, and not their registered names, which may be different. In any case, it is certainly NOT their complete registered name, which would be required for anyone to be able to recognize any kennel name or ancestry of the dogs.
I would be very surprised if anyone could tell a bloodline from a picture.
So, you would need to provide at the very least, the website or kennel name of the breeder for anyone to be able to help you further. Better yet, the registered names of the dogs.
He seems to be a broker, but I could be wrong on this. You're right, there is no information about his dogs on his website.
Edit: I do seem to be wrong, he also breeds and has a training facility as well as imports.
If he or anyone is selling dogs they should be able and willing to provide the peds of the dame and sire period. I don't care how few litters he does a year.
Don't be shy David. Tell him up front you want to see the pedigree of the litter. You want the OFA certs. You want to see the scores.
As a prospective buyer, it's not only your right, it's your duty to do so.

Wayne should be able to provide you with the full registered names of the parents. You can probably even get that via email if he's not been feeling well.
Don't worry about asking questions or bothering him. As a breeder I LOVE it, and I "talk" via email to many a person that I'm pretty sure will not be getting a pup from me in the near future for whatever reason.
Has he spent some time talking to you to make sure that you and this litter will be a suitable match?
I know it's been a while since this post. I have since picked up the puppy. She is one very hard dog. I could not keep her off my ankles until I got a prong collar. I hated to do it but I couldn't even take her out to use the bathroom. She yelps a little but it hardly slows her down at all. She has quit biting my ankles though.
She's a very smart dog. I got her a little early in my opinion, at 6 weeks. But on the second day, with only 1 hr. training, she knew how to sit and down on command. She is 13 weeks old now.
I still don't have her pedigree papers. The dame was imported and the breeder had to send off her DNA. I do have copies of her father's and mother's pedigree.
