Hello! A few days ago my husband noticed a small bump on our 6 mo old female GSD's upper right thigh. It is about the size of pistachio and it is under her skin. It is semi-hard when we touch it (not soft enough to be puss but not hard enough to be bone). It doesn't seem to be too painful for her when we touch it, but she does get uncomfortable when we prod it too much. After taking a close look, we didn't see any bite marks or cuts from an insect or wound. The skin is the normal color of the rest of her skin, it's not red or pink or anything.
It's been there now for about 4 days and we made an appointment for the vet tomorrow. She doesn't have any signs of being sick, but we still want to get it checked out.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had anything similar on their dog to give us a clue as to what it could be. Is it possible it could be a bee sting or something that swelled up? I can't imagine the swelling would last that long though.

Swelling (lumps) can be anything from harmless fatty cysts to mast cell tumors to infections of air follicles ... and much more (including many harmless possibilities).
The vet might want a needle aspiration or might say that it looks like nothing and just keep an eye on it.
The vet appointment is definitely the right thing to ease your concerns.
Update: Turns out it was related to the rabies shot she had gotten a week prior (which I totally forgot about otherwise I would've mentioned it and might have saved myself a trip to the vet). The vet said it was a reaction to the shot since she got the shot in her right thigh. It's starting to get smaller now.
