Wow, I'm really mixed about this one. People say he did his time he should be reinstated, etc. Everyone deserves a second chance, blah, blah, blah. I don't think I could bring myself to watch a game with him in it. I would certainly lose respect for a team who signed him. I say send a message, but I am informed on the events that occur in the world of dog fighting. The way they sacrifice animals to train these fighters is just as apalling as the treatment of the fighters themselves. Check out the vidoe on http://www.knockoutdogfighting.org/ . I would like to see him volunteer at shelters and a few rescues before I would even entertain allowing his return to football. He should not be allowed 110 feet from any animal! http://www.knockoutdogfighting.org/vick.html I like this article check out the comics.

Nothing at all about you personally, Michelle, but Ed doesn't want that name on his board. Obviously, he feels the way you do. (And so do I; a member of our club has a rescued "bait" dog, and I too agree with the article you linked.)
So anyway, I changed the topic title.
I understand Ed's preference completely: No one wants a Google search of that name to lead to their web board.

There is recent talk of the local team picking this guy up. Personally I don't think the good people of this state would put up with that.
Reality of things is that many people feel that justice has not been done yet. I have mixed feelings about his matter since that time there was an NFL player in Florida that killed someone in a crosswalk in a DUI and paid off everyone involved and ended up with 24 days in county lockup and 1000 hrs of community service. When things like that happen I have to look strongly at the world I live in and ask who we are, and who we should be.
Look at it this way,
you can root for any team he plays against. Cheer on the linebackers to cream him, knock the stuffing out, make him suffer and leave him on the field a quivering mass of jello.
I meant mixed on whether he should be nuetered normally or just pull them out through his nose.
Oh. Then I'm mixed too.
Definitely thru the nose.
Connie, I assume you took his name off this post. Thanks.
I just can't bear to look at sites about things like this. I literally cry.
But this is so horrendous that I have to put in my two cents worth.
Maybe he got justice in the eyes of the law, but not in the jury of his peers, obviously.
If, years from now, he can show that he is a worthwhile human being, then maybe I could forgive him. But I have seen no remorse, not one iota of humbleness from what he's done.
That takes time. One can't just go to jail, get out, and say 'I'm cured'.
Past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior and his past behavior says he is un-human.
So, if years from now, his life shows that he is a decent human being, then by all means, let him play ball or whatever. If he is too old, too bad. That's the (I hope) consequences of his behavior.
I'm not saying lock him up and throw away the key. I am saying not getting his old job back (with fame and glory) is a small price to pay for what he did.
The article from Knockout Dogfighting has a few comments from his peers and they're just as stupid as he is. People who look on animals just as property are morons IMHO. They have never been touched to the heart by an animal. Frankly I don't trust someone who doesn't like animals. I think that guy and those like him are often glorified gangbangers who have gotten lucky on talent but have not used it for the better. He's a role model to kids! Do we want inter-city kids admiring the likes of him! If he does play I hope he gets booed everywhere he goes.
