Believe it or don't, right here in little ol' bodunksville, KY, I found beef kidney, beef cheek and green tripe in the Wal-mart tonight. Of course, I filled up my buggy.
I would say cheek is muscle. You lucky dog! Green tripe at Walmart! I asked at my Walmart the other day if I could order a case of chicken backs, but since they don't stock backs, the answer was a no go... How much was the green tripe?
Oh, wow! I knew I should have written down the prices. Old age memoray is failiing me fast. But, I'm thinking the tripe was less than a buck a pound. The cheeks was the most expensive at two something.
This is the first time I have ever found green tripe. It really stinks. I cut up everything and put it in smaller packages for the freezer (small dog).
Look at Walmart again, this was in the meat section where there is a lot of mexican stuff.
We've never before had anything like that.
There is a small market (IGA) where they finally get chicken backs and necks. I kept asking and asking last year and finally they have them. Check the smaller places for those. Good luck
The Walmart here carries back s- but only as a part of a package with thighs and breasts. I do buy them, but was hoping they would order just the backs. I've found a local butcher who I've been told will order pretty much what ever I need, so that is my next stop.
If not, it's likely that it wasn't green tripe you got because it's not for human consumption so not available in grocery stores. If it's white tripe it has NO nutritional value.

In Wal-Mart?
In the people section, not in the pet section? Never heard of it in the pet section, either.
WalMart does have a packaged Tripe bag. It isn't bleached and is raw, looks like a washed intestine, mushy and gushy from the belly type raw. Its in the meat aisle. As for canned, the only canned tripe I have ever seen is the dog food one from Solid Gold...
now I am wondering what I am missing out on in WalMart.
